Final Submission - Project 2 Opening

This is basically is the opening outline of Villa Savoye. From this work, it can be seen that the most fundamental aspect among all the openings are the long horizontal windows at the side of villa savoye and the ramp windows.
The proportion is focused on the dynamic experience of the ramp moving through and a big opening at the end of the journey.

Final Submission - Project 2 Circulation

This model is focused on the circulation aspect of the house which is the ramp. It emphasized the experience of the ramp. Thus, this model is completed by using some drawings of the ramp storyboard that were placed along the ramp. As you see all the drawings from the ground level, you would feel like you are seeing an animation of the movement.

Final Submission - Project 2 Landscape

. Villa Savoye is a house located at a separated field covered by the trees at the surrounding. So in this one I focused on creating an exaggerated effect of this lanscape based on the idea of isolation. So the model is made at a very small scale which is 1:500 with a very big open and empty field in the surroundings.

Final Submission - Project 2 Opening

The model and the drawing focused on the opening of the house (Door in particular). What it does is basically creating a path that connects each of the door in this house together. It creates another form of the house from that aspect.

THE CIRCULATION

There are three major circulation aspect in this house, which are the stairs, the ramp, and the horizontal windows. Basically the stairs and the ramp serve the same function which is to travel between the level. However, the ramp gives the inhabitant a dramatic experience where the inhabitant have to slow down and view the features of the house. Meanwhile, the window serves as the main air and light circulation of the house

THE IMPORTANT POINTS

There are 5 important points that were emphasized in this house:
1. The use of pilotis
2. Non load bearing wall
3. Free Plan
4. Horizontal window
5. Roof garden

In this design, Le Corbusier used the pilotis as the main structural parts of the house. It bears all of the load from the house. The concept of this structural system could be seen in one of his drawing, Maison Domino. As a result, the wall could be placed freely without concerning the load. For example, in the first floor, a curve framed glass could be cast without concerning the structure of the house. It is of curse also made the plan become loose and free.

In this design, Le Corbusier also used a new idea where the roof was used as a garden. It also serves as a terrace which creates a more dramatic feeling than any ordinary garden.
The last aspect is the use of horizontal window which also the new application of window in architecture at that time. The windows are exist at all sides of the house. the aim of the shape and place of the windows is to direct the sun light come to the house from every direction.
